Winter Flowers

Fashion is a great tool for breaking barriers, stereotypes and preconceived ideas about anything. Like when Melania Trump wears a beautiful dress, she suddenly seems nicer. But then you notice Donald by her side… But really. People often think that floral patterns are a symbol of Spring and Summer and that if you wear one floral piece, you can’t wear any other pattern. Well, it’s not entirely true. There are flowers that are made for winter months – the dark, brooding, dramatic type, just out of theatre or a dark garden.

When I bought this cute black jumper, I had no idea what I would wear it with. But it was in sale, it was beautiful and I told to myself – if nothing else, at least I’ll have something pretty to wear for playing with Jimmy (I can’t wear knitted sweaters because of his sharp fingernails…). But when I was putting it into my closet, I noticed my favourite burgundy pants. And I instantly knew they were meant to be together. Black and white and burgundy, small flowers with more small flowers. Perfect.

There are always some rules in fashion that everybody tries to stick to. They were created for a reason, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make your own from time to time. Styling should be fun and unique to you. So if you feel like wearing pink and red together, do it! Or if you’re tired of dark boring winter colours, wear something orange or yellow! Try to change up your usual work outfits for something that will keep you happy and comfortable during the day. Or borrow something from your man’s closet. Just be yourself. Be free. And be awesome.
