Sunday was our last day on a trip to Trieste/Slovenia back in July. When we arrived in the lovely town Muggia, where we were staying, the locals told us they usually go swimming to the beaches in Slovenia, just around the corner. We thought – they know best, right? So we spent three days in different places on Slovenian coast, discovering Ankaran and Isola, which we loved. On the last day, before we had to go home, we didn’t have too much time, but we wanted to use every minute to swim in the sea, so we went to a beach in Muggia itself. We found it by the Porto San Rocco on the edge of town, surrounded by beautiful colourful vista of Italian houses up on the hill, turquoise see and a big commercial Trieste port on the other side of the bay.

We enjoyed every last minute of our time on the beach, eating seafood, drinking cold drinks and taking in every inch of the view. Looking at the beach full of locals taking in the sun and the salty sea, I could absolutely imagine a life like this – spending a casual Sunday down at the beach with the family, drinking wine, living our dolce vita. For now though, we are stuck in Bratislava again, watching the Fall arrive rapidly at our doorstep…
