In Summer we need to keep so many things in mind – how to be comfortable, how to avoid being too hot or too cold, prevent the sunburn AND look stylish all the way through 😀 In the midst of all this, however, we can still think of our mother Earth as well. Sustainable fashion is getting more affordable every year and this summer I have picked a few pieces that I won’t be missing in my summer wardrobe, either in the city or on holiday. Here are some of my go-to sustainable eco-friendly brands producing trendy, cute clothes and accessories:
An affordable, luxury lingerie brand that is changing the lives of women through our Underwear for Hope program. They believe in empowering women through lingerie and creating a culture where women help each other. The beautiful colorful pieces at Naja are made by single mothers or under-privileged women in Colombia. The new SS 2015 swimwear collection made by Naja from recycled plastic bottles is simply gorgeous.
People Tree is one of the best known British ethical brands. For over twenty years, People Tree has partnered with Fair Trade artisans and farmers in the developing world to produce a collection of ethical and eco fashion. This year they have joined forces with the designer Orla Kiely again to produce cheerful patterned clothes. If, like me, you love classical pieces like nautical striped t-shirts or romantic comfy summer dresses, People Tree is a great place to go 🙂
Have you heard about washable paper bags? These beautiful stylish bags or backpacks called Uashama (read as „wash mama“) are made of washable ecological paper from Tuscany. The Italian family who designed the bags created them to store groceries, fruit, accessories and gradually added trendy bags in bright colors or metalic shades, too. I don’t know about you, but I fell completely in love with them.
Conscious Collections by H&M
Sustainable collections at H&M are a good sign that even the biggest fashion chains are trying to turn things for the better. H&M is trying to make more and more pieces „conscious“ every season, supporting the ethical trade and using ecological materials for women’s, kids and men’s collections, as well as first home pieces.
