This autumn everything seems to be going twice the normal speed. After a lovely easy Summer all of a sudden there was incredibly lot of work, no time to do anything and I really started enjoying having my little munchkin puppy at home, because he always gives me an excuse to take a break (we just have to go out for a walk when he need to pee, you see) and he makes me laugh even when there’s too much of everything else going on 🙂 But besides the dog, which is proving to be the best therapy for anything, there is one more that has been helping me stay sane for years – shopping and spending time with friends.
So on a rainy October morning my girlfriends and I decided to take a day off work and go shopping instead. The only problem was that there was 5 of us. My car is great for many things, but carrying 100 big bags full of clothes isn’t usually one of them. The trunk is just too small, even if we fit fine into the car itself. So I decided to get some help. I’m a small woman, but I finally felt that I deserve a big car for a change. Because sometimes, you just do. And BMW came to rescue 🙂 Because I was good all year, I got this beautiful gold X5 for the trip so that girls and I could really travel to Vienna in style. And it couldn’t get much better. The car was stylish, that’s for sure, and it’s crappy in the city because it’s so big, but I thoroughly enjoyed it on country roads between Bratislava and the outskirts of Vienna. It offered so much space inside that the girls felt like royalty on the chocolate brown leather seats, and I felt like a race driver behind the wheel. Usually when I’m in SUVs or cross road cars, I get the feeling of sitting in a luxury tractor, since I’m sitting so high. With X5 I finally got the hang of it, enjoying the view while feeling like the biggest macho around. Yes, it happens to the best of us.
With twin turbo charged 2,5-litter diesel engine it shot from the crossroads like a lightning bolt despite its huge size and felt extremely comfortable on the road. It’s a great car for long trips with friends, family or a whole lot of luggage, I found. Too bad we only had it for a couple of days and I had to give it back. I drove it a lot in the city as well, but I can safely say that it’s pointless to get a car like this for driving in the city. It only helps if you want to feel BIG and important, but then, you can always get a limousine, right? This is great for camping trips and long drives on holidays and can even stand in for a bed when you find yourself in trouble. Girls and I managed to fit all of our bags very easily into the huge trunk, so we were more than happy.
